SERDANG: Police arrested an illegal online gambling den operating under the guise of a billiards center in Seri Kembangan on Saturday (November 21).

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Razali Abu Samah said the union used an office labeled “For Staff Only” at the billiard center in an effort to avoid detection.

“However, we managed to uncover his deception and raided the gambling den around 9 pm on Saturday. We detained eight people at the gambling den, including three women. We confiscated 14 laptops and RM443 in cash,” he said.

A caretaker of the facility was also detained during the raid, he added when he spoke to reporters at the scene Saturday night.

“The union installed CCTV all over the place and monitored the situation using a tablet. Only regular customers could enter the gambling den,” he said.

ACP Razali added that the union is believed to have been operating since September 18.

“When asked, the common excuse of customers would be that it was the first time they played there. Local workers would also have similar excuses, ”he said.

ACP Razali added that Serdang police will continually arrest illegal gambling dens in the district.

“We hope that those with information will contact the nearest police station.

“The cooperation of the public is vital in this war against illegal gambling,” he added.
