KUALA LUMPUR: A senior police officer was among 227 people arrested in operations to verify compliance with the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) carried out in Petaling Jaya today.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, ACP, Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal, said the 39-year-old officer was arrested around 3 a.m. at an entertainment center in Kelana Jaya after preventing members of the vehicle unit from mobile patrol (MPV) will perform RMCO monitoring tasks. .
He said the MPV team headed to the entertainment center after a notice that the venue was still running and was full of visitors even though it was approaching 3 a.m.
“During the incident, the police officer, who is believed to be a client of the club, introduced himself as a senior officer working for the Selangor contingent. However, later, the man uttered provocative words and insults, in addition to trying to threaten the police officers who were on duty, ”he said when contacted today.
Nik Ezanee said the police officer was arrested and a check found that he was a police officer working at a district police headquarters in Selangor.
He said that the case was being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public officials in the performance of their duties and Rule 11 (1) Rule 11 of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Regulation (Measures in Infected Local Areas ) 2020 for violating the RMCO.
In the first hours of operation, raids were conducted at three separate entertainment venues in the district that also saw compounds issued to 227 people for disobeying the RMCO, he said.Named
