KUALA LUMPUR: The police opened an investigation document against a man who claimed that the Director General of the Fire and Rescue Department, Mohammad Hamdan Wahid, and the former Inspector General of Police Musa Hassan, were involved in fraudulent activities.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said this follows a police report filed by Musa at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) at noon yesterday.
Hamdan also presented a similar report at the Putrajaya IPD on the same day.
In both reports, the duo claimed that they were defamed by a certain person.
“Investigations are underway under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act of 1998 for using the Internet or the telephone to spread false news,” Nik Ezanee told Bernama today.
Meanwhile, Putrajaya District Police Chief Mohd Fadzil Ali also confirmed that he had received a report from Hamdan and that the case had been turned over to the Petaling Jaya IPD for further action.
Two video clips, lasting between three and four minutes each, went viral on social media, showing a man who claimed Musa and Hamdan were involved in fraud cases, including a get-rich-quick scheme.
Meanwhile, Musa, in a statement, said he filed the report because the allegations were malicious and intended to tarnish his reputation and that of Hamdan.
“I have also included some evidence to prove that the accusation against me is false and malicious in nature, so that the police will take further action,” he said.
