The head of Penang’s commercial crime investigation department, Mohd Rosni Lazim, said the investigation against the 37-year-old doctor was carried out after a report submitted by the hospital’s deputy director on January 20 about a complaint from a doctor. that its official seal had been used by other parties to make insurance and Socso claims.

“The doctor who filed the complaint said that he had never signed or sealed letters for some people who claimed to be involved in accidents to apply for Socso’s insurance and claims and that the people involved were never treated by him at the hospital,” Rosni said . reporters here today.

He said police have seized several documents from the suspect’s home in Kulim, Kedah, to facilitate the investigation.

Rosni added that initial investigations also found that the suspect had also used a stamp that belonged to a female doctor who had been transferred to Sarawak in 2017.

He said the stamp had been used since last year for filing Socso and insurance claims on behalf of other parties.

The suspect is believed to have been paid a certain commission for Socso’s insurance and claims that were approved by the applicants in question, he said, adding that police have recorded statements from the suspect, as well as the deputy director of the hospital and the doctor. . to facilitate investigation.
