PUTRAJAYA: Police are investigating a woman’s claim, posted on her Twitter account, that yesterday she was sexually harassed by a police officer at a checkpoint in Putrajaya.

He said that later, at 6 p.m., a 28-year-old woman, owner of the Twitter account, filed a police complaint alleging that she was sexually harassed by a police officer at a Putrajaya checkpoint around 9 a.m. Yesterday.

The woman claimed the officer had used offensive words, which upset her, when questioned about her purpose of getting through the barricade, she said in a statement here today.

Fadzil said initial investigations found that the police officer did not speak the words the woman claimed.

“Other officers, including those from the Malaysian Armed Forces at the scene, were also investigated and denied any sexual harassment, as the woman claims.”

However, Fadzil said police were still investigating and, when completed, will forward the documents to the Attorney General’s Office for further action.

He advised the public not to speculate on the case, as it could jeopardize the police investigation.
