PETALING JAYA: An online gambling union took a big hit after Bukit Aman stopped a call center in Nilai.

Bukit Aman CID’s Deputy Chief of Secret Gaming Societies Division (D7), SAC Mohd Zani Che Din, said the afternoon afternoon raid on Wednesday (April 29) witnessed 44 arrests.

“Investigations showed that the group was promoting its activities through WeChat and QQ Messenger.

“They have been in operation for six months and the facility was only used for transactions from China.

“The bungalow they operated in was rented for around RM7,000 a month,” it said in a statement Wednesday (April 29).

The group is believed to have attracted players with easy games and a better chance of winning.

A total of 17 laptops and 75 cell phones were seized.

He added that it was believed that the union would harvest around RM150,000 daily.

“The suspects, aged between 18 and 45, came from various provinces in China. They have been sent to the Nilai police headquarters for further investigation.
