Police arrested for driving against traffic, suspected of DUI

JOHOR BAHRU: A policeman has been arrested for driving against the flow of traffic along Jalan Lingkaran Dalam here at 12.30 am today.

The traffic policeman is also suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Johor Police Chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said police received a video about the incident and a team from the Johor Bahru Selatan Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division arrested the 24-year-old at a nearby gas station, where it was discovered that he was a policeman.

“The man, who was off duty and driving his own car, is believed to be under the influence of alcohol,” Ayob Khan said in a statement, adding that the case would be investigated transparently and that the man would be charged in court.

“The Johor Police will not compromise and we will crack down on any law enforcement personnel who break the law.”
