KUALA LUMPUR: Although Covid-19 cases are still high and entertainment activities are prohibited, some people are still at risk of visiting an entertainment center in Jalan Ampang here, defying standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the Control Order of conditional movement (CMCO).

The head of the Kuala Lumpur CID, SAC, Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, said that last night a total of 93 people were captured at the entertainment center in an integrated operation.

The operation codenamed ‘Ops Hiburan Bersepadu’ was carried out by a team from the Wangsa Maju District Police Headquarters and was assisted by the Serious Crimes Division (D9) of the Kuala Lumpur CID based on a notice.

“Inspection of the guests, which included 66 locals, including 22 women, and 27 foreigners (15 women), found that they were partying without observing physical distance.

“Initial investigations found that the entertainment center was operating illegally after its business license expired in July,” he said when contacted today.

Nik Ros Azhan said that initial investigations also found that the entertainment center was a multi-purpose room that was specially reserved with packages of liquor priced up to RM50,000 a night.

He said all captured local guests accumulated RM1,000 each as per Regulation 11 of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control (Measures within Local Infected Areas) Regulations 2020.

Meanwhile, the aliens were arrested and investigated under Section 39 (b) of the Immigration Regulations of 1963.

It said that the case was also investigated under Section 32 of the Excise Tax Act and Section 4 (1) (b) of the Entertainment (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) Act 1992. – Called
