Police arrest five for raping a sixth-year student

DUNGUN: Five men, including a form four student, were arrested this morning on suspicion of raping a sixth year female student on September 29.

Dungun District Police Chief, Superintendent. Baharuddin Abdullah said the suspects, aged 16 to 23, were detained between 5 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. after the victim’s mother filed a police report yesterday.

In the September 29 incident, the victim was riding alone on a motorcycle to look for her mother, who was at a stall in a night market, when her motorcycle was cornered by another motorcycle with two drivers who ordered her to stop, in about 9 pm.

“One of the suspects, who was known to the victim, then rode his motorcycle and, with the victim forced to ride the passenger, took her to an oil palm plantation before raping her with four other friends,” he said. at a press conference. at Dungun District Police Headquarters today.

Baharuddin said that one of the suspects had also taken the victim’s cell phone to prevent her from calling for help.

He said the incident only came to light when the victim told her mother after the latter noticed a change in her daughter who had become depressed.

He said the victim was taken to Dungun Hospital for further examination.

All of the suspects were detained for a week from today and the case was being investigated under Section 375 (b) of the Penal Code, it added. –Called
