PETALING JAYA: Police arrested 82 people yesterday for crimes under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), Chief Security Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

In a statement, Ismail said that 75 of the 82 were fined, six were sent to remand and one received bail.

They were captured for not practicing physical distancing, not wearing masks and not recording personal data. Only one person was caught by activities in pubs or nightclubs.

Police also captured 29 undocumented immigrants and two suspected traffickers and seized a boat and four land vehicles as part of their ongoing Ops Benteng campaign.

“The government will crack down on anyone who tries to enter the country illegally and enforcement agencies will continue to enforce our border control,” he said.
