PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 39 people for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (MCO), including those who did not wear masks in crowded public places.

Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the arrests were made on Tuesday (September 1).

Of the 39 arrested, 13 were caught for not wearing face masks, while other violations included businesses that operate beyond permitted hours, employ illegal immigrants, fail to display a customer record, and engage in activities where distancing cannot be observed. Social.

On September 1, the task force that oversees compliance with standard operating procedures carried out checks at 62,306 facilities, including transportation terminals, factories, government offices and banks.

Ismail Sabri also said that between May 1 and September 1, authorities arrested 4,620 illegal immigrants during Ops Benteng.

698 boat captains and 247 smugglers were also detained, while 177 boats and 475 vehicles used to transport undocumented foreigners were seized.

“The authorities will continue to act against anyone who tries to enter the country illegally, as well as against those who help illegal immigrants,” he said.

On the issue of mandatory quarantine, he said that a total of 21,217 people returned to Malaysia between July 24 and September 1 and were placed at designated stations, including hotels and public training institutes.

There are currently 8,801 people in quarantine.
