Hardware specs
Up front, the Poco X3 NFC comes with a 6.67 ″ Full HD + LCD screen that drives a high 120Hz refresh rate. It has a DynamicSwitch feature that automatically changes the screen refresh rate based on your application.
For example, for video viewing, it runs at 60Hz, but increases to 90Hz or 120Hz when running a game that supports a high refresh rate. On a static page, you can reduce its refresh rate to 50 Hz to save power.
The display also features a 240Hz touch sample rate for better touch responsiveness and is claimed to be 33% better than most flagship smartphones. In addition to that, the front also has Gorilla Glass 5. Instead of a pop-up front camera like the Poco F2 Pro, the device has a small 3.8mm punched hole to house a 20MP selfie shooter.
Under the hood, the X3 NFC runs on a Snapdragon 732G processor with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. During the event, the device claims to score over 300,000 points in the Antutu benchmarks and also uses LiquidCool Technology 1.0 Plus to keep things fresh during intensive gaming. If you need more storage, the device also gets microSD expansion through a hybrid SIM slot.
In the camera department, the rear has a four camera setup that comes with an unusual camera layout. This includes a 64MP main camera that uses a large 1 / 1.73 ″ Sony IMX682 sensor. It also has a 13MP ultra-wide sensor, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors. The camera can record 4K 30fps videos and there is also AI Skyscaping 3.0 which can turn daytime shots into night shots. .
For a more immersive gaming and video experience, the X3 NFC also features two stereo speakers. There is also a speaker cleaner feature that vibrates unwanted dust that you can activate in settings. If you prefer to use your own headphones, the device still has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Powering the new Poco device is a massive 5,160mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging via USB-C. According to Poco, the battery can provide up to 10 hours of gameplay or up to 17 hours of video. The device can be charged from 0 to 100% in just 65 minutes.
In terms of connectivity, this is a dual SIM 4G LTE device and it supports WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. As the name suggests, it comes with NFC and there is also an infrared blaster. The device also has IP53-rated water and dust resistance, which is good for accidental splashes.
Out of the box, it runs on MIUI 12 for Poco which is based on Android 10. Poco also promises to offer 3 years of consistent system updates and fans will also get Kernel sources available at launch.
Overall, the Poco X3 NFC packs a lot of class-leading hardware for less than RM1,000. It is definitely a better buy than Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9S.
