PN president Muhyiddin Yassin will address delegates at the general assembly of the MIC, a party that is part of the BN, but party president S Vigneswaran has denied receiving offers to join another coalition.

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is set to speak to MIC delegates at his AGM tomorrow, in a speech that is likely to further muddy the political waters in the country.

Speaking to FMT, MIC Vice President C Sivarraajh confirmed that Muhyiddin, the president of Perikatan Nasional, is scheduled to deliver the speech, which will be televised to delegates at the Wyndham Acmar Hotel in Klang.

Muhyiddin’s speech will come a week after Barisan Nasional’s main component party, Umno, decided to cut ties with PPBM, which is headed by Muhyiddin.

Over the past week, MIC has criticized Umno for its president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s promise to strengthen sharia law in the country, an arbitrary decision calling on BN leaders to resign from the cabinet and for the party’s desire to regain the Sungai Siput’s parliamentary seat. which has traditionally been challenged by MIC.

It is known that Zahid will also address the delegates virtually.

While he did not specify who he was referring to, MIC president S Vigneswaran denied last month that MIC, the country’s largest Indian-based political party, had received offers to leave BN for another political group.

This year’s MIC hybrid convention is a mix of face-to-face and virtual attendees, and Bernama estimates that there were 400 delegates present in the hall and 400 delegates online during the MIC Youth, Wanita, Putera and Puteri convention held today.

The branch elections are expected to take place from April 5 to May 5, while the election for party president will be held in June.

Elections for other top party positions will be held at a later date, Vigneswaran said during a press conference last month.
