Liverpool opened a six-point gap over Tottenham Hotspur to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday lunchtime with an incredible 7-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Goals from Roberto Firmino (2), Mohamed Salah (2), Takumi Minamino, Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson sealed a sensational result for Jurgen Klopp’s teams, extending their unbeaten streak in the league to 10 games.
The Reds had opened a three-point gap over the Spurs at the top before the trip to East London, after a spectacular late header from Firmino sealed a 2-1 win for Klopp’s team against the Spurs at Anfield on Wednesday night.
After Salah fired Liverpool up front with a deflected effort, the Spurs tied through Son Heung-min and looked like a good bet to leave Merseyside with a respectable point on the bag.

However, Firmino’s last header from a corner by Andrew Robertson sealed all three points for the reigning Premier League champions.
After the full-time whistle, Klopp and Spurs head coach José Mourinho were seen exchanging words on the touchline. Although Amazon Prime Video cameras were unable to detect exactly what was said between the pair, Mourinho revealed in a post-match television interview that he had told Klopp that the better team had lost.
Mourinho said: “I told him that the best team lost and he didn’t agree, but that’s his opinion. By the way, if I behave the same way on the touchline as him, then I have no chance of staying there. and I’m out. ” for a minute. Is that animated?
“Do you want me to take the fourth official board out of his hands and see what happens to me? For some reason, I’m different.”
Now, following Liverpool’s win at Palace on Saturday, former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson has launched a brazen attack in the direction of Mourinho.
The former Sky Sports expert wrote in Twitter: “Wow, I can’t believe Roy Hodgson just told Jurgen ‘the best team lost.’

Although Thompson didn’t name Mourinho in his tweet, it was pretty clear what he meant by his thinly veiled comment.
Thompson clearly felt Liverpool were a worthy winner against Spurs on Wednesday night, despite Mourinho’s insistence that his players justified the victory, even though they left empty-handed.
Spurs will have a chance to close the gap to Liverpool to three points when they face Leicester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
