KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua posted a new record with the highest ever monthly sales of 26,852 cars in October, after a record high of 25,035 units in September.

Perodua President and CEO Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said in September that he sold more vehicles in a month than in its 27-year history and “now we have gone even further.”

He said this milestone underscored their commitment to delivering their vehicles to their owners as quickly as possible while at the same time rejuvenating the automotive ecosystem.

“In October, we bought parts worth RM600 thousand from local suppliers, thus creating a huge economic multiplier effect on the local automotive ecosystem, which has also been affected by the pandemic we now face,” he added.

The automotive ecosystem includes direct and indirect sectors, such as automotive component suppliers, authorized distributors, stockists, agencies, and contractors. Indirect, but crucial, partners include financial institutions such as banks and insurance companies.

“In terms of production capacity, we are on average at 98% in October 2020 with 26,362 vehicles, which is also our highest monthly production figure, produced at our manufacturing facilities here in Sungai Choh,” he said.

Zainal said Perodua managed to achieve them under new standard operating procedures (SOPs) that include working from home and mandatory testing for those in red zones, in addition to the original SOPs introduced in May.

Perodua sold 8,052 Myvis, 6,738 Axias, 6,895 Bezzas, 3,193 Aruz and 1,974 Alzas in October. The first three models remain Malaysia’s best-selling cars so far this year.

“Our strategy going forward is to further leverage our value offerings and the quality of our products and services for the Malaysian public. In terms of vehicle maintenance, rest assured that we have enough parts to meet all your needs, as most of them were manufactured locally, ”said Zainal.

“We are working to maintain this sales and production momentum to ensure that deliveries remain high and that our customers are satisfied by providing affordability for all of our products and services,” he added.

Perodua is introducing a cash swap of up to RM1,500 for Perodua Aruz (terms and conditions apply) during November, in addition to the current tax exemption amount.

In addition, Perodua offers cash rebates of up to RM2,000 for its used vehicles until December 31, 2020. This offer is only available at the Perodua KL point of sale located in Jalan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur.
