COVID-19 | The Perak government plans to establish two low-risk Covid-19 treatment and quarantine centers (PKRC) to reduce congestion in hospitals following the increase in positive Covid-19 cases in the state.

Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said that the state government is awaiting approval from the National Security Council (NSC) before activating the treatment centers, which will be in Ipoh and the other in the southern part of the state.

He said the centers would be used to house low-risk Covid-19 patients with no symptoms to undergo follow-up treatment.

“The PKRC has not been published, but if the NSC approves it, we are ready. The state government will provide the facilities at both treatment centers, “he said at a press conference after launching the” Projek Khas Tani Covid-19 “in Ipoh today.

On the implementation of the Enhanced Motion Control Order (MCO) in Zone B and Zone C of Taman Meru 2C in Ipoh, from tomorrow until December 3, Ahmad Faizal said that a one-stop-shop facility was provided to facilitate residents obtaining food. supplies and daily necessities.

He said that the state government, through the Tambun Parliamentary Popular Service Center and the Kinta District Office, had provided various forms of assistance to the residents involved during the Covid-19 screening process in the area over the past days. .

Yesterday, Chief Minister (Security Group) Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the implementation of the improved MCO in the two areas was done with the advice and risk assessment of the Ministry of Health following the increase in Covid-19 cases in the two locations.

Earlier, Ahmad Faizal, in his speech launching the project, said that a total of 318 farmers in the state who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic will receive agricultural inputs from the state government, the latest at the end of next month.

He said the state government had allocated 856,000 ringgit for the project, which would involve providing inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides for selected farmers to grow food crops such as vegetables, bananas, papaya, corn and chili.

According to unofficial data from the Perak Department of Agriculture until last October 30, he said, there was a drop in agricultural production, with vegetable products registering only 61,051 tons compared to 117,003 tons last year, while for fruits, it was 61,209 tons, up from 111,885 tons last year.

He attributed the drop in production of the two basic products to the harvesting process and marketing problems, especially during the period of order movement control.
