IPOH: All activities in the state can continue normally and there is no need to suspend them amid the increase in Covid-19 cases in the country, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

The Perak Mentri Besar said it was unnecessary to step up activities for now, as Covid-19 cases were only spreading in certain areas.

“We will always monitor to see if there would be any need to reinforce social or commercial activities,” he added.

Faizal was asked to comment on the state’s position following the postponement of state-level events in various states due to the increase in Covid-19 cases.

Faizal said that as long as people adhere to standard operating procedure (SOP) by maintaining physical distance and disinfecting their hands, the virus can be controlled.

“I hope people don’t panic. Like on social media, I see people scolding politicians.

“The virus is not biased, whether it is the president of the United States or a certain group, it can affect anyone,” he said.

Faizal also said that he has performed three hyssop tests since he returned from Sabah after the conclusion of state elections there.

“The results are all negative. I also self-quarantined for 14 days, “he added.
