PETALING JAYA: People who beat and kicked a teenager in a viral video have been arrested, says Deputy Commissioner Shafien Mamat, Kelantan Police Chief.

He said the case occurred at the SMK Kemahang 1 shelter, adding that the victim had filed a police report after the incident.

“Based on his initial statement, it appears that three suspects beat him after they became angry that the victim tried to play a prank on them about giving them a Kentucky Fried Chicken sandwich.

“We have identified and arrested all the people involved and taken them to the police station for further action,” he said.

DCP Shafien said the case was being investigated as criminal intimidation and willfully causing harm.

The 26-second video that went viral on social networks and WhatsApp shows the victim in a red shirt being beaten by another child until he falls to the ground.

Another shirtless boy is then seen picking up the victim before punching him.

The victim falls back to the ground and tries to protect himself and is seen crying as the same shirtless boy picks him up again and kicks him in the legs, causing him to fall to the ground again as a laughing voice is heard.
