PUTRAJAYA: Anyone who tries to travel through states without permission can be sentenced under the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act of 1988 (Law 342), according to Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said roadblocks have been established at toll stations across the country to prevent interstate travel.
“Roadblocks have been established in the toll plazas to prevent interstate travel and, as I said earlier, the allowed interstate travel was only made for four days through requests in the Gerak Malaysia app.
“After this period (travel allowed through the Gerak Malaysia app), the situation returns to normal where interstate travel is not allowed unless you have permission from the police. This means that anyone traveling through states without police permission will definitely face action, ”he said at the daily press conference on the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), here today.
Ismail Sabri said the police can still issue compounds or bring these people to court.
Ismail Sabri said the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has also established 144 roadblocks along interstate highways through the country.
“Yesterday, PDRM arrested 44 people for violating the standard operating procedure (SOP). Everyone must comply with the SOP and the rules that have been established, ”he said.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said that the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) imposed in the Selayang Baru, Gombak, Selangor area ended today.
He added that EMCO has not been imposed here in the Jalan Pasar Pudu area, but it is under administrative control.
“Residents in that area can still go in and out, even to buy essential goods, it’s different from EMCO where residents can’t go out,” he said.
He added that all residents in the area will have to go through the Covid-19 evaluations. – Bernama
