GEORGE TOWN: Penang Police today announced a list of 10 barricades to be mounted as part of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to be enforced in the larger Bayan Baru-Bayan Lepas area from tomorrow until 19 of November.
Southwest District Police Chief A Anbalagan said a team of 328 officers from the police, armed forces, civil defense and Rela would be involved.
At a press conference today, he urged those living outside the CMCO area but who had to travel to the area to apply for travel permits at the nearest police station.
Those working in the area would only have to show their work passes and authorized letters from their employers, he said.
The CMCO will start at 12:01 am tomorrow (tonight) and will end at 11:59 pm on November 19. The CMCO covers an area of 2,670ha in Mukim 12, the southwestern district of the island.
The obstacles are as follows:
- Second bridge (entrance ramp to Batu Kawan and exit ramp that leaves Batu Kawan towards the island)
- Queensbay (across from Putra Marine Condominium and Putra Place Condominium)
- Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Highway (Bayan Baru roundabout and opposite Eastin Hotel)
- Sungai Nibong (near the Shell gas station towards the Pesta grounds)
- Jalan Datuk Ismail Hashim (both directions; opposite the Triangle of Setia)
- Jalan Teluk Kumbar (both directions; near the Pavilion Resort)
