In this case, the High Court dismissed the Baling MP’s claim on the grounds that he was unable to prove his claims and ordered Abdul Azeez to pay Lim RM50,000 in costs.

The decision was read in cameras by Undersecretary L. Umma Devi on behalf of Judge Datuk Rosilah Yop.

Speaking after the procedure on Friday (December 11), Lim’s attorney, Datuk N. Mureli, said that Abdul Aziz did not present sufficient evidence for his case.

Abdul Azeez sued Lim in 2018 alleging that the former finance minister made defamatory statements during a press conference in Penang on February 28 of the same year when he was still the prime minister of Penang.

In his lawsuit, Abdul Azeez claimed that Lim had linked him to a payment of RM3mil as a consultation fee by the developer of the infrastructure project.

Abdul Azeez was seeking general and exemplary damages and other reparations the court deemed appropriate.
