GEORGE TOWN: All companies or factories in the professional and manufacturing sectors in Penang have to strictly follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the conditional MCO, says Chow Kon Yeow.
Following an increase in Covid-19 cases involving various factories in the state, the Penang Chief Minister said the state government was emphasizing the importance of implementing SOPs more strictly as outlined by the Ministry of Industry and International Trade (Miti).
“According to the letter from the director of the state Department of Health to both local authorities (PBT) above, all companies and factories must establish a working group if there are officials and employees infected with Covid-19.
“In fact, management is urged not to allow officers and employees with fever and those with symptoms to work and to ensure that they seek treatment to ensure that the workplace is safe.
“Both the local authorities, the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP), are requested to continue to monitor and take strong action against all companies or factories in the professional and manufacturing sectors that do comply with SOPs.
“We are all avant-garde. Stick to the SOPs and practice the 4P practices.
“Never disseminate information obtained from inauthentic sources that may cause panic in the community,” he said in a statement on Friday (November 13).
