CITY OF GEORGE: The Penang government through Penang Global Tourism has partnered with AirAsia to launch the SNAP campaign to attract more domestic tourists to Penang.

Penang Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE), Exco Yeoh Soon Hin, said that the SNAP campaign would offer flight and hotel combinations covering more than 25 hotels in Penang from December 24 to 27.

AirAsia.com offers SNAP in collaboration with airlines and hotel providers to boost domestic tourist traffic.

He said there are three-day, two-night stay packages for as low as RM49, while those who prefer a more luxurious stay at four- or five-star hotels can opt for deals starting at RM179.

“We are optimistic that with the collaboration with AirAsia, the Penang tourism industry will offer travelers a wide range of new vacation opportunities,” he said today at a press conference here.

He said the campaign will support the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia initiative and help the local tourism industry recover.

“We are seeing a positive rebound in tourism activities and we are working to accelerate the recovery in tourism, support employment and the economy, and increase tourism revenue,” he added.

Meanwhile, AirAsia’s regional commercial director Tan Mai Yin said the company is offering a curated promotion called Penang Eat + Play (PLUS) for tourists and Penangitas that covers food, attractions and transportation.

PLUS will run from December 24-31, where travelers can book the package at a special discounted rate of RM49 using the promo code ‘AAPENANG’.

He added that AirAsia is increasing the frequency of flights, which had been severely affected by the imposition of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 10 weekly flights from Johor Bahru to Penang have now been increased to 25, while for Langkawi to Penang the frequency has increased from 10 to 25 weekly flights and for Kuala Lumpur to Penang, from 10 to 35 weekly flights. -Called
