GEORGE TOWN: Penang Prime Minister Chow Kon Yeow and his state executive councilors, along with other state officials, have decided to work from home following alleged contact with a Covid-19 case.
This follows confirmation that a press cameraman who covered an event yesterday in which Chow was present had been in close contact with a Covid-19 patient.
In a statement, Chow said the cameraman in question had attended his press conference, which was held in Komtar between a meeting of the state executive council.
Chow said the cameraman had a swab test done today and the result was not yet known.
He urged those who attended the press conference to stay home awaiting the test result.
Chow said the Health Department had since told his office that a quarantine order would only be issued after the cameraman tested positive.
“Those who attended the press conference have been told to cut back on their outdoor activities and stay home for now. We will contact the health department to follow up on the cameraman’s test results.
