CITY OF GEORGE: Penang canceled all year-end activities and celebrations following the current situation in the country related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage, Yeoh Soon Hin, said that all related programs in his portfolio will be canceled until the end of the year.

Chingay (December 12). and the Seberang Perai Chingay Parade (December 19).

“The decision was made taking into consideration the fact that public concentrations are not being promoted at this time, to avoid new clusters. Apart from that, physical distancing will be difficult to enforce during various programs, especially when there are members of the public, as well as hundreds of participants and organizers, ”he said in a statement here today.

He added that the decision was also finalized after Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s announcement on August 28 about the extension of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) until December 31 to curb the outbreak.

Meanwhile, Yeoh reminded people to always adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) when away from home.
