PDRM Busts Online Gaming Call Center in Nilai

KUALA LUMPUR: Police today raided an online gambling call center, which operates from four bungalows at Taman Bucida Hijauan in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, and arrested 44 Chinese citizens, including eight women.

The deputy chief director of the anti-gambling / vice / gangster division in Bukit Aman, SAC Mohd Zani Che Din, said the suspects between the ages of 18 and 45 were arrested at 12:30 p.m.

He said that the police also confiscated six computer equipment, 17 laptops and 75 mobile phones that were used for gaming activities.

“They also host online gambling. His clients are from China and the transactions are in Chinese yuan.

“The activities are carried out through the Wechat and QQ messaging apps and we believe the union had been in operation for the past six months,” it said in a statement today.

“The luxury bungalows were rented at RM7,000 each month and the union made a profit of RM150,000 per day,” he added.

Mohd Zani said the suspects were brought to the Nilai District Police Headquarters for further investigation and that the case is being investigated under Section 4 (1) (c) of the Common Gambling Houses Act. – Bernama
