KOTA KINABALU: The local PBS party yesterday signed an association agreement with Perikatan Nasional (PN), sealing a formal political affiliation with the coalition.

PBS Secretary General Jahid Jahim said the association also aimed to create political collaboration, especially in light of Sabah’s state elections.

However, he said he did not make PBS a member of the PN, but a partner in political collaboration and in the federal government.

“The case is exactly the same as that of Gabungan Parti Sarawak. They are partners of the PN ”, he said today in a statement here.

The agreement was signed by Jahid and PN Secretary General Hamzah Zainudin at a ceremony in Tamparuli yesterday, witnessed by senior leaders.

Under the agreement, Jahid said, PBS would be PN’s partner in the Sabah state elections.

“This is the beauty of the PBS position: we are alone, completely autonomous, not dictated by any party and yet we are part of the larger PN family, to jointly develop and make Malaysia bigger.”
