SABAH SURVEYS | Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has denied allegations that it is joining forces with Warisan Plus to form the new state government.

In state polls that concluded yesterday, Warisan and his allies won 32 state seats out of 73, which is still short of the five seats needed to return to power.

In a statement today, PBS reiterated its position to remain an ally of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), which won 38 seats.

“PBS would like to categorically deny claims that it is joining forces with Warisan Plus to form the government,” said the party’s chief information officer, Joniston Bankuai.

“This statement was widely circulated on social media after the results of yesterday’s state elections,” he said.

“PBS, as an equal partner in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, stands firm with its allies, Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional,” added Joniston, who defeated former Senior Deputy Minister of State Madius Tangau in Kiulu.

GRS won a total of 38 seats with PN led by Bersatu securing 17 seats, BN led by Umno getting 14 seats while PBS won seven.

Despite their commitment to being with their NP parties, which included Sabah Star and Bersatu, the PBS party leaders were absent from an event where GRS leaders gathered to await the results of state polls.

He immediately raised concerns about the relationship between GRS allies, particularly as Bersatu and BN compete for the post of chief minister.
