Paul Scholes and Michael Owen believe Manchester United are capable of winning the Premier League this season after claiming a sixth consecutive victory at Sheffield United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team came back to beat Chris Wilder’s team 3-2 on Thursday night to move five points behind league leaders Liverpool with a game in hand over the Premier League champions.
Marcus Rashford scored twice on either side of an Anthony Martial attack and Scholes believes United’s offensive lineup can be helpful in launching a title charge.

Scholes (above) states the Red Devils will challenge in May barring fitness issues
Scholes told Amazon Prime Sport: ‘I think if they can keep nine or ten players in shape for the next 26 games, they will be there or so. They have found an exciting way to play.
‘I think (Solskjaer) has changed the formations and the staff a lot. During five games (last year) they did not change teams and tonight it was this team without a left back and goalkeeper. It’s 4-2-3-1 and it worked.
‘It is a formation that really adapts to the team. (Bruno) Fernandes in the 10th role feeding Martial, Rashford and (Mason) Greenwood. How cool is that? They are one of the best and fastest finishers in Europe when they have opportunities.
‘The problem is to take possession and control with (Paul) Pogba and (Nemanja) Matic. These two need to control the game, Fernandes needs it. Once they know it, they are flying.
Marcus Rashford (R) scored a double and Anthony Martial (C) scored one in Thursday’s 3-2 win
The Red Devils lagged behind in the opening minutes Thursday night when a Dean Henderson goalie error allowed David McGoldrick to score, but Rashford and Martial turned the game around with one goal apiece before the break.
Rashford then added another pass from Pogba to open up a two-goal lead, but the Blades responded just before second-half injury time through McGoldrick, with Solskjaer’s team holding a small lead.
Michael Owen believes that playing with players like Pogba, Fernandes and Rashford on the Red Devils team on a regular basis is an obligation for Solskjaer, who has altered his starting lineup since the start of the season.
Owen told Prime Sport: ‘Well, they can (win the league). There are some teams that can. The only way they can is to get their best players onto the field.
Owen (above) claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to play with his best players to win football matches
‘If you have Pogba and Fernandes in your team, you cannot win the title if they are in the stands. You have these amazing players you have spent millions on, the only way to win the title is with your best players playing.
If you serve two or three, then they are a good team. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to keep finding a way for Pogba, Fernades and Rashford to play together, it’s amazing how they haven’t kept them together. ‘
Two-goal hero Rashford, however, was quick to quash any idea of a title charge as he believes the season can change very quickly for all teams.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team is now five points behind leaders Liverpool with one game less
The England forward told Amazon: ‘We take it one game at a time, it’s early in the season. There is a lot of football to play.
‘There will be many ups and downs for everyone. We have to find consistency away from home at home and we’ll see where we are at the end of the season. ”
Manchester United have won six straight away games, but their focus is now on Old Trafford, where they have only won once in the league all season.
Solskjaer’s side face Leeds United in a derby on Sunday night in hopes of closing the gap at the top of the table.
