Paul Pogba has broken the silence about his situation at Manchester United, insisting that he is “1,000 per cent involved” and will “always fight” for the club.
Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, said earlier this week that his client is unhappy at Old Trafford and had no plans to sign a new contract, with his contract expiring at the end of next season.
Raiola revealed that he hopes to facilitate a move for Pogba in the upcoming January transfer market, with Juventus and Real Madrid as potential destinations.
Pogba returned to United’s starting lineup for Saturday’s goalless draw in the Manchester derby and took to social media after the final whistle to address his agent’s comments.
“I have always fought and will always fight for Manchester United, my teammates and the fans,” Pogba wrote on Instagram.
“Blah blah is not important. The future is far away, today is what matters and I am 1000% involved!
“Always strong together … everything has been clear between the club and me and that will never change.
“When you don’t know what’s going on inside, don’t talk.”
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was disappointed in Raiola’s decision to make Pogba’s future public and insisted the midfielder remains committed to United.
“I think I said during the week, of course, that this is a team game. Paul is part of this team, he’s very focused on contributing when he’s here,” he said before City’s visit.
“He is hungry, he wants to play. He wants to play, he wants to train.
“There have been other players who have refused to train or play, they are no longer here, of course, but Paul hasn’t done it once. He just concentrates on acting when he gets the chance.”
