Patriot: Eliminate Traitors at Immigration and NRD

PETALING JAYA: The Immigration Department and National Registration Department (NRD) should be revamped to remove traitors, says National Association of Patriots (Patriot) President Brig-Jen (Rtd) Datuk Mohamed Arshad Raji (Photo).

Citing allegations of involvement of public officials in human trafficking and the sale of MyKad, Arshad said: “Any illegal activity carried out by officials of the two agencies amounts to treason.

“And department heads must be told that they must accept full responsibility and accountability going forward for any failures within their departments,” he said in a statement.

There have been reports of arrests involving immigration officials while the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission carried out investigations into corrupt practices linked to human trafficking activities.

In September last year, 20 NRD officers were arrested in Penang for allegedly selling identification documents to foreigners.

In another case, four people, including an immigration officer linked to a trafficking ring involving foreign workers from China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh, were arrested on November 20.
