Patient survives a fall from the sixth floor of the Sabah hospital building

KOTA KINABALU: A man with cancer who fell from the sixth floor of a hospital building on Saturday night (November 14) miraculously survived the fall.

The 64-year-old, who also tested positive for Covid-19, had landed on the third-floor roof during the 8 p.m. incident.

He suffered injuries to his arm and waist.

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said police will receive a statement from the man when the time is right.

Meanwhile, Lintas Fire and Rescue Chief Agustavia Joe Guasi said the man received preliminary treatment after the fall before he was lowered from the roof.

“We received a call about the incident around 8.22pm and sent a team of 15 men to respond to the matter,” he said.

She said the man was turned over to medical staff for further action after that.

The firefighters finished their operation around 9:53 p.m.

This is the second of these incidents involving a Covid-19 patient registered in the city.

On October 21, a patient who He had recovered and was supposed to return home on October 22. He had died after falling from a city hospital.

The victim was a 63-year-old woman who was hospitalized on October 13 when she tested positive for the virus.
