PAS ready to use BN logo in Sabah surveys

Abdul Hadi Awang says that PAS had opposed the use of the Barisan Nasional logo in 1974 when it was part of the BN coalition.

PETALING JAYA: PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang says his party is ready to compete in the Sabah elections using the Barisan Nasional (BN) logo.

Emphasizing that PAS had no problem using the BN logo, he said the party would nonetheless await the final outcome of discussions on the matter.

“This is because I was made to understand that there are parties in Sabah that want to use their own logos,” Hadi said at a news conference in Marang today.

“Whatever the outcome, we have no problem joining.”

He said that the decision to use the BN logo was nothing new for PAS, having contested its use in 1974 when it was part of the BN coalition.

Earlier, BN Secretary General Annuar Musa said that all BN candidates competing in Sabah polls would use the “dacing” logo, since Sabah voters were aware of it.

Annuar, who is also the BN’s chief coordinator for the Sabah elections, said that a poll conducted by the coalition found this to be true.

Therefore, both the BN political bureau and the Supreme Council have informed their component parties in Perikatan Nasional about the decision.
