Parliament will debate issues on illegal immigrants and religious sentiments today

KUALA LUMPUR: The government’s efforts to handle illegal immigrants and enforce laws related to religious sentiments are some of the topics that will be debated in today’s Dewan Rakyat session.

Based on Parliament’s Order of Order that met today, the issues will be raised through questions to the Minister of the Interior during the Q&A session.

They include Che Alias ​​Hamid (Pas-Kemaman) on the implementation of the Comprehensive Five Year Plan for Law Enforcement Against Illegal Immigrants to address the influx of illegal immigrants into the country, while Ramli Mohd Nor (BN-Cameron Highlands) wants to know if any amendments will be made to existing laws and regulations to provide harsher punishment against people who insult, ridicule or play on religious matters.

There will also be a question from Maria Chin Abdullah (PH-Petaling Jaya) on the government’s position on the Rome Statute and on the possibility of Malaysia accepting membership of the International Criminal Court.

After the session is over, the chamber will debate the 2021 Supply Bill on the 2021 Budget for the seventh day.

Parliament will meet for just four hours, from 10 a.m. M. At 2 p. M. Every day from Monday to Thursday, and only 80 members of Parliament (41 from the government and 39 from the opposition and Independents) can be in the Chamber at any time.

It is a precautionary measure following the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.
