GEORGE TOWN: Pakatan Harapan plans to discuss holding a “grand coalition” meeting in January to face the upcoming general elections, says Lim Guan Eng (Photo).

The DAP secretary general said a discussion is scheduled for January 2021, but declined to release details.

“The idea of a grand coalition was proposed by the head of Parti Amanah Negara, Mohamed Sabu, on December 26, who said he was prepared to unite the opposition parties,” Lim said after taking a trip on the ferry. Penang in Pengkalan Raja Tun Uda here on Thursday (December 31).

Lim said it was part of the political reboot that was previously stated in a joint statement on December 17. He added that the statement was misinterpreted by some who thought there would be a change in the leadership of the coalition.

“It’s more about focusing on people-centered issues rather than getting the kleptocrats to join the coalition,” he added.

During the Amanah convention in Melaka, Mohamad was reported to have said the party is prepared to unite opposition parties to form a grand coalition to confront GE15.
