KUANTAN: The Pahang government never intended to oppress durian Musang King farmers who cultivate the crop illegally in Raub district, Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said today.

He defended the actions of the state government as based on the provisions allowed by law.

“The farmers involved should also be law-abiding citizens by vacating the government lands that they have illegally occupied all this time. The state government hopes to obtain the cooperation of the parties involved.

“The state government has also reiterated its stance that it will not compromise on the issue of land cultivated illegally by the farmers involved,” he said in a statement here.

According to Wan Rosdy, the state government has postponed the application of the eviction notice against the farmers involved until the Superior Court hears the request of 111 of them for judicial review of the government’s notice to them on October 28.

On August 28, Kuantan High Court Judge Zainal Azman Ab Aziz allowed the farmers’ request for a temporary stay on the eviction notice issued by the Raub Land and District Office and the Pahang Forest Department. .

The application was filed after the state government began to take action in early August against farmers allegedly growing durian plantations in and around Raub, as the illegal plantations had allegedly caused losses to the state government and had also caused problems. of water pollution.
