KUALA LUMPUR: The two owners of a beauty salon who were arrested in connection with the failed liposuction will be released on police bail on Wednesday (October 21).

Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, deputy head of the Kuala Lumpur CID, said that the mother and daughter will be released by the police once their pretrial detention expires.

“They have been detained since Monday. We have sent the investigation document (IP) to the Deputy Prosecutor at 10 am on Wednesday with a recommendation to charge them under article 304A of the Penal Code.

“The IP is still with the DPP for further deliberation before a decision is made,” he said when contacted Wednesday.

SAC Nik Ros Azhan added that the Health Ministry had conducted its own investigation and will refer the matter to the prosecution division of the ministry for further decision on the case.

The tragic case of 23-year-old Coco Siew Zhi Shing, who died after liposuction went wrong, broke the hearts of her loved ones and once again highlighted the risks of going to dubious beauty salons.

The bride-to-be had wanted to look good for her wedding at the end of this year, so last Saturday she underwent a liposuction procedure at a beauty salon in Kuala Lumpur.

It has been alleged that after receiving an injection of anesthesia in his arms, his heart slowed and he had seizures half an hour later.

She was rushed to a hospital, but she died that night.

Siew’s cousin, who did not want to be named, was devastated that she had lost someone she considered a sister.

She said that Siew would share many things with her, including hair and makeup tips.

The cousin said she was very close to Siew, who was the youngest of three siblings. He had two older brothers.

According to the cousin, Siew’s marriage plans were postponed earlier due to Covid-19.

On Monday, Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said that the owners of the beauty salon, a mother and her daughter, had been detained for investigation for wrongful death that did not amount to murder.
