PETALING JAYAA total of 873 people were arrested today for disobeying the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), including 580 related to nightclub and pub-related crimes, Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said (pix).
It said in a statement today that of that number, 797 were issued compounds, 71 were arrested and five were released on bail.
It noted that among the violations were defying standard operating procedures (SOPs), such as not adhering to social distancing, not wearing face masks, facilities that operate beyond allowed business hours, not providing devices or recording the details of customers, suspected of being involved in vice activities (prostitution) and failure to comply with quarantine orders.
Ismail Sabri said that 30 undocumented immigrants and four suspected traffickers were arrested on Sunday (September 6) under Operasi Benteng, an operation to crack down on illegal immigrants.
The operation included the seizure of 12 land vehicles and the installation of 79 barricades.
He added that the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumption had carried out its daily monitoring of essential basic products in 661 commercial premises on Monday.
“In general, the supply of basic necessities is sufficient and is able to satisfy the needs of the country,” he said, adding that eight locals were advised not to follow the SOPs.
Regarding the mandatory quarantine, he said that from July 24 to September 6, a total of 24,781 people who had arrived at the KL International Airport (KLIA) were tested for Covid-19 and were located in 67 hotels and four public training institutes. .
“Of that number, 9,842 are still in quarantine and 66 have been sent to hospitals for treatment. A total of 14,873 people have been discharged and allowed to return to their homes, ”she said.
