JOHOR BAHRU: Johor PPBM will let party leaders deal with a video clip allegedly showing Ayer Hitam PPBM’s division chief Osman Sapian campaigning for Pejuang’s candidate in Slim’s by-election in Perak.
PPBM state chairman Mazlan Bujang said the state leadership had no authority to take action against any member believed to have violated party rules.
“Let Tan Sri (PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin), through the committee (disciplinary board) make any decision,” he said. “Disciplinary matters are the responsibility of the party’s disciplinary board. Everything depends on the direction to act ”.
“If the video recording is authentic, they (the disciplinary board) will investigate. So it is up to Tan Sri and she can order it to be reviewed or investigated, ”Mazlan said.
Yesterday, a video clip was shared online that allegedly showed Osman, a former Johor menteri kisser, supporting independent candidate Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi in Slim’s by-election.
Amir had represented the new Pejuang party made up of former members of the PPBM and led by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
In the video, Osman is said to have admitted to being the Kempas state assemblyman on the PPBM ballot and was still a member of the party, but alleged that PPBM had deviated from its original struggles.
Osman has previously stated that his presence at Slim was to meet old friends on vacation and had nothing to do with politics.
Mazlán said that people should not jump to conclusions, especially when it comes to internal party affairs. “We will follow the exact source. If it is true that there has been misconduct, then we must give (the person) a chance to explain it. We must be mature to face this situation, ”he said.
