Open court hearings will resume from Wednesday

PETALIZING JAYA: Open court hearings in the country will resume in stages starting Wednesday.

This matter was announced in a statement by the Office of the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court of Malaysia. He said the judiciary will enforce the following strict procedures and guidelines for standard operation and safety (SOP).

The guidelines:

> Everyone should check the status of their case before going to court. Parties are encouraged to file documents through electronic filing in courts that have an electronic filing service.

> All persons attending the court are required to download and complete the Court Visitor Form from the official website of the judiciary for social search purposes. Visitor forms are also available at court facilities.

> Each and every one of the Malaysian courts will only have one entry point to their respective premises.

> Only those who do business with the court may enter the premises. In criminal cases, only one family member may enter the courthouse.

> Only one client per party is allowed to be in the court building during their case hearing.

> It is mandatory to wear a face mask at all times within the court premises. The court will not provide face masks to people who attend the court.

> The body temperature of each individual attempting to enter the courts will be taken and only those individuals with a body temperature of 38 degrees Celsius and below will be allowed entry. The parties and the public are advised not to attend court if they are not feeling well.

> All persons are required to conduct business at the designated counter or court without delay.

> Witnesses or parties to a proceeding may only enter court premises 30 minutes before the hearing of your case begins.

> Witnesses are required to contact their respective police officers or attorneys prior to their case to attend court and other matters on court premises.

> There is limited seating and space on the open court. All parties must sit within the boundaries marked on the seats to maintain social distance.

> All persons are required to leave the courthouse as soon as their matter is completed.

> We seek the cooperation of all parties to maintain the cleanliness of court facilities.

> All persons are also requested to comply with all Covid-19 related instructions issued by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) from time to time.
