OG Seed removes OG from WePlay! Pushka League

It is rare to see two dota 2 teams from the same organization playing in the same game. But it’s even weirder to see them fight in the middle of a big tournament, which is why the clash between OG and OG Seed was so interesting to watch.

But since neither team had won a single series and Seed had already been eliminated from the playoff contest, the development team that beat the main roster ended up being the last nail in the organization’s coffin on WePlay! Pushka League.

The 2-1 win for Seed, while incredible, marked n0tail and the fourth consecutive loss for his squad. And in a group stage with just seven teams, that means going 0-4 is an instant elimination. Both sides exchanged blows, with games one and two being absolute footsteps, while the third game was a close game that escaped in the final minutes.

Each game had a different key player for each team, with MidOne dominating game one, Chessie crushing game two, and SumaiL nearly sealing game three for OG. But Seed’s real MVP was Petu “Peksu” Vaatainen.

The Seed captain had a difficult game when OG went through his entire roster, but he bounced back with two monster games in Keeper of the Light and Ancient Apparition. Without their excellent game, Chessie and Madara would have had a hard time opening things up.

The biggest solo performance was Chessie’s amazing Queen of Pain in the second game, which changed the entire series by leaving on 1/25/12 with more than 45,000 damage. Madara’s Ember Spirit was also impressive, throwing 32,000 damage and 37 assists, OG had no answer for any of Seed’s core players as game 53-10 got out of control.

There were some glaring issues with OG’s game plan, namely that they lost to another Dragon Knight-Lycan lineup again, even if Madara’s Ember Spirit was the biggest issue for most of game three. It seems n0tail and the OG guys will need to work on some new preliminary strategies as the current meta continues to progress.

But even with this loss, it was still impressive to see MidOne playing 200 ping and going 14/0/18 in the opening game. Playing like this is not sustainable for long periods of time, but it bodes well for the team when LAN events return and the main roster can compete from the same place once again.

Both OG lists are now available on WePlay! Pushka League, but n0tail and the main roster still have two more series to play, and the next one will be against Nigma at 6am CT on May 3. If they beat KuroKy and his team, that will also knock Nigma out of the competition for a playoff spot.
