The 2020-21 Champions League draw is now established, and Liverpool know where they will be heading after the international break as they begin their continental campaign and look to take home their seventh title in the main European cup competition.

The Reds top Group D as champions of England last season and are joined by Dutch champion Ajax from pot two, third-placed in Serie A last season Atalanta from pot three and Denmark’s FC Midtjylland. The first games will be on October 20 or 21.

On paper, he’s an interesting draw for the Reds, one that offers unusual opponents and one that makes them strong favorites to finish first in their group, with Ajax and Atalanta looking somewhat diminished from two years ago and last year respectively.

It also means a particularly strenuous journey won’t be necessary, as Bergamo-based Atalanata is the furthest destination in a group that looks like it should provide plenty of goals and attacking football, with the only downside being a likely lack of fans .

Since the 2020 final could not be held in Istanbul as scheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020-21 edition will be held in the Turkish city that last hosted the final in 2005, when the Reds won their fifth European championship.
