UPDATE (8:40 PM): Sony Malaysia has removed the post entirely. The paragraph in question has been edited to reflect this, including a screenshot of the cache of the deleted post instead.

ORIGINAL STORY (6:30 PM):

If you’ve been browsing Facebook, you’ve probably seen several of your friends with photos of the PS5 box. And if you look closely enough, you will see that it is an image that is superimposed through augmented reality (AR). And if you haven’t figured it out, it’s an Instagram filter.

Sony Malaysia previously credited AR On Everything for creating the Instagram filter on their Facebook page. Since then, that mention has been removed, followed by the removal of the post entirely. A cached copy is still available, at press time, but without the mention of AR On Everything, and with images not loading properly.

But in any case, with it, you can take your own dishonest photos with the PS5. Who knows, you might be able to convince someone that you do, in fact, own the next next-gen console.

You can find the filter as an effect to be applied through the Instagram stories camera. Once you’re there, scroll down to “Browse Effects” and look for “PS5 Box.” There are also effects from the console itself already available. But it’s probably easier to tell that they have overlapped compared to the box.

On a related note, Sony Malaysia’s post also includes an image of the PS5 that says Holiday 2020. Although that shouldn’t be taken as an indication that we will indeed get the console this year. After all, the official console page still lacks a proper home window since it was removed last month.
