PETALING JAYA: The government will extend the deferral of loan repayments from the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) for another three months.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr. Noraini Ahmad said the extended deferral would be until March 31 for qualified borrowers.
In a statement on Friday (January 1), Noraini said borrowers who qualify for deferral can begin applying on January 5.
“This decision was made when the government realized that PTPTN borrowers are still affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and still cannot repay their loans.
“Affected borrowers can request a deferral on the PTPTN website from January 5 to March 31.
“The deferral period will start from the month the application is approved,” Noraini said.
Prior to this, the government had deferred borrowing from PTPTN borrowers last year from March 19 to December 31.
