SEREMBAN (Bernama): The father of French-Irish teenager Nora Anne Quoirin told the coroner here that he heard a thud inside the chalet the family had checked into, well into the first night of their stay at The Dusun Resort on August 3. , 2019.
Sebastien Quoirin, 48, a London-based tech sales executive, said, however, that he couldn’t describe the noise in detail as he was in a semi-conscious state after falling asleep after a 19-hour trip from London. to Malaysia.
“I fell asleep immediately and a few hours (later), after three or four hours of deep sleep, I was awakened early in the night by a noise outside, which I believe was coming from a nearby chalet where they seemed to have a party.
“Later in the evening, I heard a muffled noise. I can’t describe what noise is, because I was in a semi-conscious state,” he said.
Sebastien, who is the 36th witness in the investigation process to determine the cause of death of Nora Anne, said this when he testified on the 16th of the process before the coroner Maimoonah Aid.
Procedures on Thursday (Nov 12) were conducted online due to the conditional motion control order (MCO).
When asked by his lawyer Louise Azmi if he knew where the noise was coming from, the father-of-three said he could sense that he was close, yet he couldn’t describe exactly where and what the nature of the noise was.
Sebastien said he woke up between 7 and 8 a.m. the next morning (August 4) to see how Nora Anne and her two brothers Innes were doing, Julia, 13, and Maurice Arthure, 9, but noticed that Nora Anne he was not in his bed.
In the three-hour process, Sebastien also said that he noticed Nora Anne’s feet were unharmed during the identification process, even though the family was told that their daughter was continually on the move in the jungle while the operation was being performed. search and rescue.
“Nik (ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal, Family Liaison Officer) informed me about a body discovered two kilometers from the compound and it was very likely that it could be Nora. Then he asked me to ask about Maebh (Jaseprine Quoirin) and myself. We call her and inform her of the discovery.
Later, a police officer came to the chalet and requested our help to identify the body, and in the evening they escorted us to the hospital and identified the body.
“In fact, we did this identification twice to confirm it was Nora and to authorize the pathologist to perform an autopsy.
“While we were doing (the identification), we looked at Nora’s feet and noticed that her feet didn’t appear to be particularly damaged, in fact, (they looked) the same, just dirty.
And how I would like to think how is it possible, since the police told us that Nora had been on the move for seven days and they couldn’t find her. How is it possible, compatible with the state of Nora’s feet? ,” he said.
He added that the speculation that Nora Anne was able to open the window and get out herself was not plausible considering her daughter’s condition.
The process then continued at 2.30 pm for Nora Anne’s brothers, Innes and Maurice, to testify, as were witnesses 37 and 38.
However, coroner Maimoonah ruled that his statements would be recorded in private.
