PETALING JAYA: Malaysians must unite in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, says Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah (Photo).
The health director general said that leaders had been fighting the pandemic “for the last 10 months 24 hours a day, 7 days a week” and some were reaching the end of their ties.
“Many feel physical and mental fatigue. Some are willing to throw in the towel.
“Please learn from PRN Sabah,” he said, referring to the Sabah state elections that were held on September 26. “We need unity and unity to fight this war against Covid-19, not each other.
“Together, we can do the impossible to flatten the curve again,” he said, reminding Malaysians to stay home if they have no important business to attend to.
Dr. Noor Hisham also said it was challenging to safeguard health and the economy while striking a balance between the two as the war against coronavirus continues.
“It is a challenge to safeguard and strike a balance between health and the economy in our ongoing war against Covid-19.
“A loss of balance means loss of life and loss of livelihood,” he said yesterday in a post on his Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Dr. Noor Hisham’s call came amid a large number of positive cases recorded daily following the Sabah state elections and the possible announcement of an emergency by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
