Pandikar Amin Mulia (center seated) denies that his party is cooperating with PKR behind the scenes.

KOTA KINABALU: The de facto leader of the United National Organization of Sabah (Usno), Pandikar Amin Mulia, today dismissed rumors that Usno is working with PKR in the Sabah elections.

Former Dewan Rakyat spokesman was asked if there was any truth to be said that PKR had reached an agreement with Usno for the latter to contest and spoil the votes for Warisan, as “revenge” on the dominant party in the state for giving alone seven seats for PKR to compete.

Pandikar was also asked if Usno had agreed to compete because of his (Pandikar’s) good relations with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

“There is no cooperation with PKR. This question makes it like we have a pact, that ‘kaw tim,’ “he told reporters.

“I have good relationships with all the leaders. You must remember that I was the speaker for 10 years. The 222 deputies, including the prime minister, I was their boss.

“If really ‘kaw tim’, then why would we put candidates where PKR is competing, like in Tempasuk? Us is not independent. “

Pandikar also said he found it ridiculous that Amir Kahar Mustapha, the son of Usno’s founder, the late Mustapha Datu Harun, had demanded that the party apologize to his family for using his father’s name and legacy for the elections.

He said Amir and his family should thank the party for reminding people of their father’s contributions and Usno’s struggles.

“By right, he (Amir) should apologize to the people of Sabah for not joining Usno and competing as an independent in Banggi,” he said.

“We have no intention of smearing Mustapha’s name, but we stand by it. Also, all photos (Mustapha’s) are in the public domain. “

Amir had previously demanded that Usno not use Mustapha’s image in polls for his political gain.
