No new Covid-19 cases in Vietnam, 276 citizens return home from Canada

HANOI: Vietnam did not report new cases of Covid-19 (coronavirus) on Sunday morning (May 10), the second consecutive day, with a total of confirmed cases remaining at 288, according to its Ministry of Health.

Among the 288 cases, up to 241 have fully recovered as of Saturday, while there are 131 suspected cases and more than 14,400 people monitored and quarantined, so far no deaths from the disease have been reported, the ministry said.

It has not registered any infection caused by community transmission in 23 days, according to the ministry. The latest cases, which were recorded on Thursday, were 17 people who returned to the country from Dubai.

Meanwhile, up to 276 Vietnamese citizens were transferred to their home from Vancouver, Canada on Saturday.

Passengers included minors under the age of 18, the elderly and the sick, stranded tourists and students who had no accommodation due to the closure of dormitories.

This was a joint effort of the Vietnamese relevant agencies in the country and the representative agencies in Canada, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and the competent agencies of the host country.

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Vancouver sent officials to the airport to assist citizens with the necessary procedures.

Upon arrival at the Vietnam International Airport in the northern Quảng Ninh province, the passengers were quarantined and underwent a medical check-up in accordance with regulations. – Vietnam News / Asian News Network
