PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin did not violate any Health Ministry order by not wearing a Covid-19 monitoring bracelet, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) says on Wednesday (October 7).

The PMO said this was because he had tested negative and was in quarantine, as advised by the Health Ministry.

In the statement, the PMO explained that Muhyiddin had tested negative for Covid-19 four times in a row: on September 22, 26 and 29 and on October 5.

“The Ministry of Health did not give the Prime Minister any control bracelet.

“According to the risk assessment carried out by Health Ministry officials on October 5, the prime minister was recommended to self-quarantine and perform a self-health check at home every day for 14 days using the Home Assessment Too (HAT) in the MySejahtera app.

“Therefore, the Ministry of Health did not require him to wear a monitoring bracelet.

“The allegations that Muhyiddin violated the orders of the Ministry of Health are not true.

“The results of the Covid-19 screening on the Prime Minister on October 5 proved negative on October 6. In addition, he had also undergone three Covid-19 tests in the last three weeks.

However, the prime minister was advised to receive immediate treatment if he suffered any symptoms during the follow-up period.

“His condition remains good, and he will remain in self-quarantine until the end of the 14-day period, as established by the Ministry of Health,” the PMO said.

On Tuesday, Muhyiddin delivered a special message to the nation live from his home about the growing number of Covid-19 cases in the country and the emergence of a third wave in the pandemic.

Netizens, however, questioned why the Prime Minister was not wearing any kind of monitoring bracelet despite being in quarantine.
