KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): A Nigerian man, believed to have thrown his grandson from the third floor of a Setapak apartment here, killing him, was slapped with six counts in his hospital bed on Friday (December 18), including for murder and sexually assaulting his stepdaughter.

All charges against Ibekwe Emeka Augustine, 42, were read in English in the presence of Session Court Judge Emelia Kaswati Mohamad Khalid and Deputy Prosecutor Mohamad Sharizzat Amadan at Kuala Lumpur Hospital in 30-minute proceedings.

The defendant has been reprimanded for injuries sustained after jumping from the third floor of the apartment.

Augustine was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for the murder of his four-year-old grandson in a unit of Danau Villa Apartment in Setapak here between 7.45am and 8.15am on November 29, which carries a death sentence mandatory upon conviction. .

However, no motive was recorded for this charge, as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Augustine later pleaded not guilty under Section 377CA of the Penal Code for sexually assaulting his 25-year-old stepdaughter at the same place, date and time, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail and spanking upon conviction.

He pleaded guilty under Section 309 of the Penal Code to one count of attempted suicide, which is punishable by a jail term of up to one year or a fine, and also under Section 307 for attempting to murder his seven-year-old son in the same place, date and time, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and also a fine in case of conviction.

Augustine also pleaded guilty under Section 325 of the Penal Code, read in conjunction with Section 326A, of willfully causing harm to his wife of 48 years in the same place, date and time, and if convicted he may be punished with a penalty. from prison. no more than seven years and a fine.

Pleaded not guilty under Section 15 (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1952 with the self-administration of Tetra Hydrocannibol (THC) and Morphine, which carries a maximum sentence of two years in jail or a fine of up to RM5,000, and police supervision for three years after conviction.

Bail was not allowed and the court set January 11 for the remission of two charges and also for the sentence of the four of which he had pleaded guilty. – Bernama
